Pietermaritzburg, 13 December 2021: It’s the most wonderful time of the year and the Festive Grotto is the place to be for Pietermaritzburg families to enjoy this festive season. The Festive Grotto is open daily between 11am – 3pm from 14 December – 23 December. Step inside the Virtual Santa experience, help build the gingerbread house, or spin Santa’s wheel and stand a chance to win crafty Christmas prizes. Kids could also post their letters to Santa.
Choosing those special gifts takes time, therefore Liberty Midlands Mall will operate with extended trading hours this holiday. Visitors to the centre can shop from 8am – 8pm, from 1 – 23 December. To make sure that nobody gets a sneak peek at what’s inside the parcels before the big day, a gift-wrapping station will be at the Wimpy court from 14 – 24 December. Here, donations can be made to the Community Chest in lieu of this convenient service.
The Disney-inspired Christmas Tree, sponsored by Nedbank, will give shoppers another opportunity to pay it forward by supporting the Smile Foundation, a non-profit organisation that works to improve the quality of life of children with facial conditions. Decorated with plenty of Disney plush toys, the tree will serve as an invitation to pledge R50 towards this organisation. After the end of the festive season, all of the plush toys and the cash pledges will be donated to children that have undergone facial reconstructive surgery and treatments, because every child deserves to smile.
